I, too, heard "I believe...I will never be the same" with an ellipsis rather than as two declaratives. To me, it's much more poignant that Clavius, just having gone through the most mind-blowing experience he could not ever even have imagined, is still falling short of words to even describe it. He is not learned in the Scriptures, and has no foundation for either accepting or rejecting Jesus as Messiah. He really has no idea who this Jesus is. He only knows that the impossible has happened. He knows he is now a traitor to Rome and an outcast, doomed to the worst the Empire can mete out. Yet he believes. He's not sure yet exactly what or whom he believes, but his path is irrevocable. Clavius rejects both Mars and Rome, and walks out of the inn to whatever comes after.
